1716 - 1797
Slave-owner on Grenada, and MP for Perthshire 23/03/1764-May 1773, co-owner with John Graham (q.v.) of several estates on Grenada c. 1782. David Graeme was shown as the owner of the Montrose estate in 1784. This estate has not been definitively identified, but in 1817 Dougalston and Montrose were shown as one estate: Dougalston had been put up for sale in 1790 in London by the executors of John Graham.
The Beinecke Lesser Antilles Collection at Hamilton College: A Catalogue p. 253 item M302, which shows instructions from Gen. Graeme to Mr Carrick in 1784, and which implies that 'Mr Graham' is resident in Grenada; History of Parliament online 1754-1790, Edith Lady Haden-Guest, 'Graeme, David (1716-97), of Braco and Gorthy, Perths' [the entry makes no reference to his estate in Grenada]. The Scottish Archive Network [NA 14715 and GB252/MS110 ] says that 'the trusteeship of the estate in Grenada passed to Sir Andrew Snape-Hammond, Graeme's nephew-in-law, c. 1808.'
