???? - 1832
John Paterson, shown as owner of Plantation Johns in Berbice in his 1818 registration; his wife Mary was awarded compensation by virtue of a mortgage he had held over Philadelphia estate. His connection if any with John Dalgleish Paterson (q.v.) has not yet been established. This appears to be the John Paterson of Largs Ayrshire whose will was proved 06/11/1834. In the will [made at Largs in 1824], he left an annuity of £200 p.a. to his wife Mary Campbell Paterson, and £2000 each to four of his children Mary, Agnes, Archibald and William. He left £12 p.a. to Isobel Leith or Leith wife of the deceased Peter Paterson of Berbice, and £100 to their child James Paterson. His residuary heir was his son John.
PROB 11/1839/40.
