Hugh Munro of Limlair, Carriacou

Biography

Hugh Munro of Limlair estate Grenada (1729-1778), also probably the man of the same name who was an early purchaser of land in Tobago.

  1. There is a monumental inscription recorded in several guidebooks to Grenada: In memory of Hugh Munro of Limlair, who departed this life on 30th October 1778 Aged 49 and of John Munro his infant son.

  2. Dorothea, only daughter and heiress of Hugh Munro of Carriacou in the Government of Grenada married 02/11/1796 at Clifton John Span, merchant of Bristol.

  3. In all probability, also the Hugh (variously also H.) Munro or Munroe who was an early purchaser of land in Tobago, being granted North East division (St John parish) Lot No. 50 (300 acres) 15/05/1771.
