Curate in Kingston and later Port Royal, then naval chaplain at Port Royal "for a period of about five years all told." Author of The West Indies as they are; or a real picture of slavery: but more particularly as it exists in the island of Jamaica (1825).
Rev. J. Bickell married Eliza, daughter of the late J. Anderson Esquire of Clifford's in the island of Jamaica in Bristol in 1819.
