Biography

Son of Richard Newman Harding Newman (d. 1808) and his wife Harriet nee Schutz. Inherited a 1/3 share in Blue Hole estate in Hanover, Jamaica, from his aunt Eliza Mary Tharp (d. 1831).

  1. Thomas Harding Newman of Hornchurch, Essex, bachelor, and Harriet Cartwright of St Dionis Backchurch, City of London, married 22/02/1810 in St Dionis Backchurch, City of London. His second wife was Eliza Anne or Elizabeth Hall, daughter of Thomas Hall of Exmouth (q.v.).

  2. Will of Thomas Newman of [Nelmes in the parish of] Hornchurch in Essex proved 05/08/1856. He left his son the Rev. Thomas Harding Newman the residue of £5000 after minor monetary legacies and the portion settled on his [the testator's] son Capt, Benjamin Harding, as well as his real estate; a further £5000 settled on the children of his second marriage was left to the three of them.
