Baptised, Canonbie, Dumfries, Scotland, 29/08/1802. Nephew of Robert Chisholm. Mentioned in the 1823 Hanover Census as residing at Esher Estate. Possibly became the owner of the Spring Hill Estate in 1829.

Born into slavery in Carriacou, Grenada, Malvina Wells became a lady's maid in Edinburgh and a trusted family friend to her employers.
