Shown as joint-owner of Quakers Hall estate in British Guiana in 1826. His mother was Elizabeth Heathcote, and his uncle Cornelius Heathcote Rodes.

In Holy Orders. Resided at Barlborough Hall, near Chesterfield, Derbs. Took the additional name and arms of Rodes, by Royal Licence, Apr. 20, 1825, on succeeding to the estate of his uncle, C. H. Rodes. Bequeathed his name and arms to his nephew, William Hatfeild Gossip (1843). Married, June 18, 1825, Anna Maria Harriet, dau. of William Gossip, of Hatfeild House, Derbs.
