James Jackson McLachlan Esquire of Kilchoan, residing in Jamaica, thereafter in Edinburgh. Died at Gairbraid, Lanarkshire, 16/12/1832. Executor of James Colquhoun Grant (q.v.) and mentioned in his will to "pay every attention" to Grant's children and "afford them his protection". Spouse of Mary Allan who predeceased him.
In his will McLachlan left £100 to Catherine MacLachlan, reputed daughter by Anne Henderson a free woman of colour lately residing in Lucea and £50 to Anne Stewart formerly my housekeeper a free woman of colour lately residing in Montego Bay. The residue in trust to Mrs Jean Buchanan (mother-in-law) whom failing to Miss Elizabeth Janet Allen (sister of late wife Mary).
