Peter Ballantine

Given simply as 'Ballantine' [as in 'Ballantine & Dick'] but identifiable as the partner of John Tailyour (1743-1815) and a correspondent with him after the latter's return to Britain c. 1792, and a partner in Ballantine Fairlie & Co. Shown as Peter Ballantine in the finding aid to the Tailyour papers and in subsequent work based on the papers. Nothing further of him has been traced under this name. Patrick Ballantine (q.v.) is known to have been a partner of James Fairlie (q.v.) in the Kilmarnock Banking Company, and might in fact be the same man.
