???? - 26th Mar 1844
Andrew Bredin Delap was the eldest son of Rev Alexander Delap (c. 1754-1829) of Ray, Co. Donegal, Perpetual Curate of Killygarvan (until 1809), and nephew of Robert Delap (c. 1756-1803) of Old Shafston Jamaica. He was in Jamaica by 1802, was an ensign in the Manchester regiment in 1819 and a vestryman of Manchester parish in 1821. He married Eliza Watson Smythe at Mile Gully, 28/03/1815. They later lived on his Irish property (Ray) and he was land agent for Viscount Southwell in Co. Donegal. He died 26/03/1844.
Relationships are sourced on Watt Family Correspondence 1790-1850 (PRONI, MIC 135/1) and monumental inscriptions in the graveyard at Tullyaughnish (Ramelton), Co.Donegal, http://donegalgenealogy.com/tullyaughnishGY.htm [accessed 10/06/2017). The former refers to ABD's presence in Jamaica in 1802; the latter gives his date of death. His marriage is per the St.Elizabeth register; other details from the Jamaica Almanacs. His land agency is mentioned in the Londonderry Standard 12/06/1841.
