Unsuccessful counterclaimant for enslaved people on Christiana estate in Manchester. He had sold enslaved people previously belonging to Robert Shaw on the estate c. 1823, and by inference had taken back a mortgage for all or part of the sale price. Captain in the 78th Highland Regiment. Inherited the title on the death of his brother John in 1804. Heir of his cousin Robert Home Gordon (q.v.). The will of Sir Orford Gordon of Emdo [sic] House, Sutherlandshire was proved 30/07/1857.
