MP for Castle Rising (1774-1784) and Ashburton (1784-1802). Sir Robert Mackreth has an entry in the ODNB as 'speculator and politician', which notes his ownership of a part share of a plantation and slaves in Grenada He was the developer of Whites Club, which he had inherited from his father-in-law after starting as a waiter in its predecessor.
