Precis from Vere Langford Oliver, Caribbeana being miscellaneous papers relating to the history, genealogy, topography, and antiquities of the British West Indies (6 vols., London, Mitchell, Hughes and Clarke, 1910-1919) Vol. V pp. 130-131. Elizabeth Rose of the Island of Jamaica, but now in London, widow of the Hon. Francis Rose, late of Jamaica, deceased. Will dated 20/12/1725. To my nephew Francis Sadler £600 at age 21. To my nephew Thomas Bush £300 at age 21. To my sister Elizabeth Bush £100. To my sister Ann Norgrove £100. To my negro woman Margaret £4 a year. To my negro woman Amimba and her two children £12 a year. Whereas my late husband by his will dated 18/11/1720 gave to our son Thomas Rose all residue of his estate, and for default of issue to me for my life, then to his nephew John Rose, subject to the payment of £3000 to such persons as I should appoint, and Thomas Rose is since dead without issue, I hereby appoint the said £3000 to be paid to my two nieces Mary Fuller, wife of Thomas Fuller of Jamaica, Esquire, and Christian Forbes, wife of Alex Forbes of Jamaica, Esquire. To Francis Oldfield of Bloomsbury Square, Esquire, and Mr John Serocold of London, merchant, £50 apiece. All residue to my said two nieces and sole executrixes for Jamaica and Francis Oldfield and John Serocold for Great Britain. Proved 11/12/1727 in London by Francis Oldfield and John Serocold. |
