Daughter of William Finlason who owned Mount Zion in St Elizabeth, Jamaica. Listed as a joint owner of Mount Zion in the slave register of 1823.
A minor and of Islington when she married Robert Seton Esquire in Islington, 25/05/1820, with the consent of her guardians John Plum[m]er and Elizabeth Finlason. A visitor at Wilmot Cottages, Kentish Town, the home of her eldest son Robert W. Seton in the census of 1851. At 40 Canonbury Park North, Islington, age 68, widow, in the census of 1871, living with her unmarried daughter Elizabeth Jane. Her address was given as Park Street, St Pancras, in the baptism record of her eldest son Robert William in 1821 (where her name is erroneously given as Frances Seton). Living at High Street, St Pancras, at the time of the baptism of her two youngest chidren Amelia Mary Ann and Cleone Mary Leman in 1835.
The death of Elizabeth Jane Seton recorded at Islington Q1 1880 almost certainly refers to this woman. Her daughter, also Elizabeth Jane Seton, died 26/08/1889 'spinster' late of 23 Canonbury Park Road at 51 Park Road Haverstock Hill leaving £9276 10s.
