Nephew and heir of Alexander Houstoun of Clerkington (q.v.), who identified him his will as only son of his [Alexander's] brother John Houstoun. Given that the Belmont estate left by Alexander Houston of Clerkington passed quickly to Hon. Andrew Houstoun, the cousin of Andrew Hugh Houston, the latter must have died between 1827 and 1829.
