Thomas Geoghegan [Senior], Planter, aged 55, St Anns, buried 08/04/1834. The three Thomas Geohegans can be distinguished as Thomas Geoghegan Senior, Thomas Geoghegan Junior (q.v.), and Thomas Kelly Geoghegan (q.v.)
Thomas Geohegan Senior had some high-ranking associates. On 28/09/1806, “baptised at Friendship Penn, Geoghegan Thomas [Jnr] the son of Thomas [Snr] and Elizabeth Geoghegan, born on the 20th of May last. Sponsors: Hon John Hiatt [q.v.], James H Byles [q.v.], Thomas Kelly Geoghegan[q.v.], John Mignot, Mrs Radcliffe, Mrs Hayne, Mary Mignot. Baptised on the same day, Terence Geoghegan son of colour of Thomas Geoghegan [Senior]. Sponsors: John Mignot Mr and Mrs.” Perhaps ‘Terence Geohegan’ was named after Marley estate attorney Terence McDermot, for whom Thomas Geohegan Senior and Francis Bowen became executors in 1817. A group of enslaved people were also baptised on the same day.
