John [Berney] Bourdieu
Profile & Legacies Summary
???? - 1825
Biography
Son of James Bourdieu, brother of James Berney Bourdieu and William Bourdieu, and father of Emily Bourdieu and John Henry Bourdieu (each of whom q.v.).
- Will of John Bourdieu of Golden Square proved 05/07/1825. Under the will he left his interest in 'certain estates' in Jamaica and in the Kendal Place estate on Tobago in trust to his brothers James Berney Bourdieu and William Bourdieu, to pay the interest on £5000 to which his daughter Emily was entitled under his [John Bourdieu's] marriage settlement. He directed his trustees to convey his West Indian estates subject to this charge to his son John Henry Bourdieu, and left £2000 in trust for his sister Philippa Bourdieu. The will appears to imply he was married twice, since a codicil leaves furniture to his wife but a bed to Emily Bourdieu 'which was her mother's.'
