Biography

Stephen Welch of Ebworth House Gloucestershire, former owner of the Ebworth estate on Barbados which he appears to have sold before his death.

  1. Will of Stephen Welch of Edworth [sic] House Gloucestershire proved 13/04/1812. He left several monetary legacies to the Cumberbatch family (Lawrence Trent Cumberbatch was his godson) but the bulk of his estate went to his grandson Stephen Welch Fletcher, son of his only daughter. The will is silent on West India property and on enslaved people, although his executors and trustees included the West India merchants Thomas and John Daniel as well as the Dean of Worcester.

  2. The will of Stephen John Welch Fletcher Welch formerly of Ebworth Park but late of Paris who died in 1870 ws proved in 1872 by his widow Georgiana Fletcher Welch, effects under £10,000.
