Son of Hon. Samuel Watkins, Chief Justice of Antigua, whose will dated 04/04/1743 left John Watkins of Brampton the estate under entail. John Watkins of Brampton eventually forfeited his position in 1755, amid mounting financial pressure both in Britain and Antigua.
