William John Selby Gurley

Biography

Son of Elizabeth Gurley (q.v.), who was his guardian and claimed compensation on his behalf for Peter's Hope on St Vincent, and grandson of Mary Selby Gurley (q.v.). William John Selby Gurley's father William was killed in Scotland's penultimate duel in 1824.

  1. Shown as 'William Selby John', born 16/01/1813, son of William and Elizabeth Gurley, when baptised at St Marylebone 05/06/1814.

  2. Will of William John Selby Gurley Mate of HMS Hecla proved 15/08/1848. In it he left his property to his mother Elizabeth and his four sisters equally.
