Rev. James Coull

1748 - ????

Biography

Resident slave-owner of Crabbs on Antigua, co-owner of the Pearl estate on St Lucia and almost certainly also the owner of Westwood on St Vincent. Died between 1824 and 1827. Father of Thomas Coull MD (q.v.). A family history cited by Vere Langford Oliver suggested that both the St Lucia estate [given by Oliver as 'Roseau' and shown as belonging to an unnamed brother of Rev. James Coull] and the St Vincent estate [presumably owned by William Coull who had settled at St Vincent but died at Cullen in 1815] were sold to repay debt on Crabbs by Thomas Coull M.D.
