Son of John St Leger Douglas.
William Douglas of 59 Prospect Place, West Square [Southwark] was tenant-for-life of the Douglas estate on St Kitts. No further trace of him has yet been found: a William Douglas 'Independent' aged 75 and 'annuitant' aged 86 was living at Lambeth Road Southwark in 1841 and at Wellington Terrace in 1851, in the former case with Mary Douglas aged 45.
T71/1609 letter from Wm Douglas, 59 Prospect Place, West Square [Southwark?] 20/9/1835: William Douglas was tenant for life and his son was tenant in tail and had family: the estates were subject to his father's debts and were in the hands of the merchant, Sir Thomas Neave, who is receiver in Chancery and also mortgagee. How much per head and to whom will Commissioners pay our share of it?
