The Chancery suit of Neave, Baronet versus Miller shows an extensive list of annuities attached to John Abel Ward's Nevis plantations, granted in 1774 and totalling £2500 p.a. John Abel Ward has not been further traced by LBS to date, but appears to be the same man as the late John Ward shown in the Slave Registers for Ward's estate 1817-1822. A John Ward was Judge of Adm. on Nevis in 1804, and his widow Sarah Louisa Miller (formerly Ward) contested the compensation for the enslaved people on Ward's estate on Nevis in the 1830s.
