Deceased by 1809 when his daughter Mary Frances Withers was baptised in Kingston, Jamaica. Listed as previous owner of Oatlands in Manchester, Jamaica, from 1817. Possibly the 'Withers' shown as party to Daly v Withers with Peter Daly over Daly's Grove estate in Manchester.
Withers was involved in a legal dispute over the break-up of a business partnership, Michael Withers & Co., with Adam Keene, of Kingston, because of Keene's objection to taking a James Smith into the partnership. The company leased a store in Kingston as well as coffee plantations and enslaved persons. The partnership was founded in 1800 and dissolved by 1805.
