Biography

Slave-owner in Jamaica, apparently resident but with Glasgow connections, dead by 1815. The confirmation of his widow Jean Logan was dated 19/12/1823 at Glasgow. Alexander Buchanan, born in Glasgow 03/10/1810 'the son of a Scots coffee planter in Jamaica' was an early settler in South Australia and is identified in genealogical sources as the son of Alexander Buchanan of Newport: LBS has not verified this.
