William Lawrence, fourth son of John Lawrence (c. 1758-1821), of Devannor, Powys, Wales, a solicitor, and his wife Mary nee Lewis (1763-1838). Baptised in Llanbister, 29/07/1793. Joined the Bank of England in 1810, where he was to remain for the rest of his life. His salary in 1844, the year of his death, was £700 per annum.
Had a son, William Robert Lawrence, with his wife Agnes, baptised in St Luke's, Chelsea, 29/11/1825. At 5 Westbourne Street, Paddington, in 1844 but not found on this street in the census of 1841. Possibly the William Lawrence who married Agnes Willan in St George's, Hanover Square, 04/04/1822.
The same William, and his wife Agnes, appear as witnesses to the 1832 marriage (at St George's, Hanover Square) of Robert Stokes junior.
