Executrix of Caleb Powell who had owned Fairfield estate in St Elizabeth, Jamaica, and died before 1815. Very likely his widow.
Caleb Powell of the parish of Exminster, gentleman, married Eliza Bowdige of St Martin, Exeter, by licence in St Martin, Exeter, 08/07/1808. Witnesses were James Davy, Rebecca Bowdige and Charlotte Bowdige.
Caleb Powell esq of Fairfield Plantation in St Elizabeth was dead by 19/09/1815 when his three daughters by his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Bowidge [sic] late of Exeter, Devon, were baptised at the house of James Davy esq at Wear Pen, St Elizabeth: Elizabeth Bowdige [sic] Powell, born 24/02/1810; Mary Ann Powell, born 25/12/1812; Rebecca Charlotte Powell, born 10/12/1814.
On the same day and at the same place was baptised Mary Elizabeth Powell, "quadroon", reputed daughter of the late Caleb Powell esq, “herself and mother [unnamed] late his property but residing still at Fairfield”.
Elizabeth Bowdige Powell, daughter of Elizabeth Powell, married John Clench in Westbury on Trym, Gloucestershire, in 1830. Rebecca Charlotte Powell, daughter of Caleb Powell, married Henry Philip Wright, son of Philip Wright, in St Andrew, Clifton, 02/09/1844.
