Tentatively identified as Janet Gray nee Sutherland, wife of John Gray. Joint owner with her husband of Roxburgh Castle estate in Manchester, Jamaica, in 1817.

PROB 11/2113/58 - precis. Janet Gray formerly of the Island of Jamaica but now of Circencester Place in the county of Middlesex, widow. First, payment of just debts and particulary the debts of £150 and interest due to Mr WIlliam Keeton and for which I have given him a security, and payment of my funeral and testamentary expenses. All my real and personal property in Jamica or elsewhere in the colonies or in Britain to be equally divided between Margaret Fergusson of Bath Street, Portman Square, widow and my niece Isabella, wife of James James of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, solicitor for their own use absolutely, subject to the pyament thereout of 1/8th part to Robert Sutherland of London Street, Fitzroy Square Esquire. James James and my friend Thomas Lunnings Vickery of 25 Lincolns Inn Fields, gentleman, to be executors. Signed 24/11/1840. Proved at London 09/05/1850 by Thomas Munnings Vickery, the surviving executor. |
