The husband of 'Mrs Elizabeth Welch', also given as Elizabeth R. Welch (q.v., under Elizabeth Renn Welch).
Will of William Welch Doctor of Physic [at present] of Bath Somerset proved 20/02/1818. He gave his executors the power to sell his sugar works called Providence in Christ Church Barbados and invest the money for the benefit of his wife Elizabeth Renn Welch and his daughter Mary Hamden Welch, until the latter reached 18, when she was to receive £5000, with the income then to be paid to his wife until his son Edward was 21, when he would inherit, with enough held back to fund an annuity of £150 p.a. to his [the testator's] wife for life in addition to the annuity to which she was entitled under her marriage settlement.
Edward Welch, the main heir, was almost certainly the Edward Welch merchant aged 44 born Barbados living with his wife and daughter Elizabeth [Renn Hampden] Welch (the latter born in Sydney Australia aged 19) in Camberwell in 1861.
