Second son of Sir Nicholas Lawes (1652-1731) and his fourth wife Susanna nee Temple. Baptised 26/02/1699. Died at Bath 1754. Inherited a moity of Swallowfield, Temple Hall and Townwell estates from his father in 1731. Left Jamaica c. 1738.
Will of Temple Lawes of Woodstock Street in St Georges Hanover Square planter in the island of Jamaica proved 26/07/1754. In the will he said he had a few months earlier settled his estates in Jamaica on his brother-in-law Simon Luttrell and his wife Judith Maria, Temple Lawes's sister. He left the estates in Clarendon and St Dorothy he held in right of his wife Mary Lawes should he survive her to Elizabeth 'the child of my wife born as I am informed after I left Jamaica', together with £20.
Temple Lawes was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 2898 acres of land in St Andrew, 370 acres in Hanover and 90 acres in Clarendon, total 3358 acres. Benjamin Pusey and Temple Laws were listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 574 acres of land in Clarendon and 130 acres of land in St Dorothy, total 704 acres.
