Biography

Son and heir of Sir William Stapleton 1st bart; through his wife Frances Russell, Sir William Stapleton 3rd bart. also succeeded to half of Russell's Rest and the whole of the River estate (formerly FitzJames and also known as the Camp) on Nevis. The other half of Russell's Rest was inherited (together with Hog Valley and Pot Works) by Penelope Russell, who married Martin Madan, and renamed Madan's.
