Appointed Depositario General of Trinidad 21/02/1818, and as security for his performance of the office lodged a bond secured on Montrose and the enslaved people on it, valued together at £55,353 10s currency. On 06/12/1822 he mortgaged the same estate to Davidson Barkly for £15,512 12s 7d. It is not clear how he was connected to the Joseph Graham of Stonehouse in Devon reportedly aged 40 in 1841 whose son William died in 1845 aged 17 when his father was described as of Port of Spain.
