Biography

  1. Eldest son and heir of James French of St Vincent, who under his will made in 1815 left James Charles French the Richmond Hill estate subject to £5000 to his brother George Henry French. The estate was then settled to raise £600 p.a. dower for Catherine Dickenson on her marriage to James Charles French in 1818. James Charles French was apparently resident on St Vincent; the compensation for the enslaved people on Richmond Hill was paid to his [widow and executrix] Catherine French, after his death between 1830 and 1834.

  2. James Charles French of St Vincent was listed as a subscriber to Charles Shepherd's An Historical Account of the Island of Saint Vincent, published in 1832.
