Jarvis or Jervis Gallimore

???? - 11th Aug 1795


Biography

  1. Resident slave-owner in Jamaica, owner of Greenfield estate, and husband of Sarah Gallimore (q.v.). Died fighting in the Second Maroon War on 11/08/1795.

  2. Jarvis Gallimore and his wife Sarah had at least 8 children baptised in Trelawny, Jamaica, between 1771 and 1783 (the eldest Matthew born in 1766).

  3. Jarvis Gallimore Esquire of Jamaica became a Freemason 08/05/1792 age 50.

  4. Possibly the son of Jarvis Gallimore who was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 330 acres of land in St Ann and 1153 acres of land in St James, total 1483 acres.

  5. Matthew and William Gallimore, sons of Jarvis Gallimore, merchant, Jamaica, were admitted to Manchester Grammar School 17/01/1788.
