Biography

  1. Will of John Stogdon merchant of Trelawny Cornwall, Jamaica [made in 1791 and attested in Jamaica early in 1793] proved in London 03/02/1800. Under the will he left £5000 to his grandson John Stogdon Highatt, the son of his daughter Elizabeth with Richard Highatt 'now of Great Britain', and the same amount to any future grandchildren. He left £5000 currency to his sister Martha Dawney, wife of William Dawney carpenter [sic] of Trelawny, and an annuity of £500 p.a. to his daughter Elizabeth. He left the Hague and Clifton estates in Trelawny in trust [his trustees included William Miles and John Philip [sic] Miles] for the benefit of John Stogdon Highatt. His grandson John Stogdon Highatt predeceased his father Richard Highatt.
