Biography

Eldest daughter of Cossley Hall and his second wife Elizabeth Bromley nee Rose. Born at Hyde Hall, Jamaica. Married [1] William Green in Trelawney 20/04/1809 (their daughter Elizabeth married in 1831 Leicester Stanhope, later 5th Earl of Harrington) [2] John Somerville Wood, esq. in Lambeth, England, 19/07/1820. Described as 'of this parish' at the time of her second marriage. At 13 Upper Wimpole Street in 1851, age 57, born Jamaica. At the same address in the census of 1861, age 63, born Jamaica, "of independent fortune".

  1. The will of Ann Rose Wood late of De Mowbray Ville Langford Place St Johns Wood who died 15/12/1867 was proved 14/01/1868 effects under £450 (resworn from £800). Burial records give her age as 80.
