1827 - ????
Daughter of John Matthews Boswell and his wife Sarah nee Saxby. Due to inherit a half share in Abbey Green estate in St David, Jamaica, under the will of her father who died in 1827 (her mother was tenant-for-life). Married Stephen Lowdell 23/08/1848 in Brighton, Sussex.
Abbey Green was in receivership in 1820 but later restored to Boswell's mother and her second husband Henry Coppard. However, slave compensation was awarded to William Jegon and George Rutherford, as mortgagees.
In 1841 Sarah, age 13, was living with her mother Sarah Coppard age 35, of independent means, her brother John Boswell age 15, a relative Emily Saxby age 14 and one female servant at St Peter's Place, Brighton. In 1861 the Lowdell family were living at 18 Church Street, Seaford, Sussex, with Sarah's mother Sarah Coppard. Stephen Lowdell's occupation was given as 'formerly in practice as a solicitor'. The elder two children had been born c. 1850 in Eastbourne. Next door were Richard Saxby and his grandson Richard Serace[?] Saxby, presumably relations of Sarah's mother.
