Richard Harris Lawrence

Biography

  1. Son of Timothy Lawrence and Ann Lawrence (née Galvin). Baptised St Andrew, Jamaica, 05/08/1733.

  2. Apparently resident slave-owner in Jamaica.

  3. In his will dated 27/02/1777 and proved 25/09/1777, Richard Harris Lawrence left his estate, Lawrence Field in St Catherine, to Sister Elizabeth Burnside, widow. In his will he also bequeathed items to Mary Finch, daughter of Elizabeth Finch, widow; James Lawrence, "free mulatto" (reputed son of his late brother, James Lawrence); Mary Henrietta Lawrence, "a free Negro, who lives with me"; his wife, Mary; his daughter, Sarah Lawrence; and his nephews, Robert Bennett and Timothy Lawrence.
