Apparently resident slave-owner in Jamaica, dead by 1770. Possibly the John Jones who was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 126 acres of land in Westmoreland.
John Jones of St James, planter. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1763. Slave-ownership at probate: 41 of whom 19 were listed as male and 22 as female. 15 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £1966.56 Jamaican currency of which £1689 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £0 currency debts and £20 currency plate.
