Biography

Jamaica slave-owner, father of Robert Nedham MP (q.v.). He left his estates to his second son Henry who in turn left them to Robert Nedham MP.

Slave-ownership at probate: 779 of whom 422 were listed as male and 357 as female. 185 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £39,321.73 currency (£28,086.95 sterling) of which £24,646 currency (£17,604.29 sterling) was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £318.5 currency (£227.5 sterling) plate, £1,358.21 currency (£970.15 sterling) debts and £0 currency (£0 sterling) cash.

  2. The will of Robert Nedham was proved in Jamaica in 1737.
