Biography

Slave-owner in Surinam, given as of Paramaribo. Clearly of Irish origin, although this has yet to be traced. He received compensation for 121 enslaved people (of 128 for whom he claimed) on Plantage de Vrede. In addition, on 03/11/1862 O'Ferrall filed a claim for W.P. Austin [q.v., under William Paul Austin] as owner of Plantation Pomona with 127 enslaved people on it, but in 1863 O'Ferrall was recognised as the owner of the plantation and recieved the 35,700 guilders compensation (for 119 enslaved people). Between November 1862 and July 10 1863 Austin must therefore have sold his interests in this plantation to O'Ferrall.
