MP for Devizes 1788-1818, husband of Sarah Gilbert, daughter of Nathaniel Gilbert of Antigua, and brother of Thomas Smith of New Norfolk Street (q.v.). His wife had been left £1200 under the will of her father but the couple do not appear to have owned enslaved people.

A cover note outlining the contents of the document.
