Biography

London merchant, former partner with Richard Beckford (q.v.) reportedly having paid £30,500 in 1793 to Rice James for his share in the partnership, bankrupt by 1802 and posthumously subject to a renewed commission of bankruptcy in 1824.

  1. 'In Tavistock Place, Russell Square greatly and justly lamented by his friends and relations, James Inglish Keighly Esq. His death was occasioned by water on the chest, brought on by vexation, and along series of almost unparalleled persecution, trials and misfortunes, which he had borne up under for these many years past with a degree of firmness and fortitude equalled by few.'
