Thomas Blair

The will of Thomas Blair of Clarendon, Esq. was proved in Jamaica 11/08/1774. In his will, he stated that he will not give any further money for the education of Abraham Watson Rutherford - son of Elizabeth Watson (of Clarendon). Abraham is currently in England. He will get £100 Sterling when Thomas Blair dies. He also indicated that he will help defray the expence required for Abraham to return to Jamaica. He gave £200 Jamaican currency to Elizabeth Watson. She may have one or two more children who receive £500 from Blair. Blair mentions a child (Elizabeth Blair), daughter of an Alice Oneale of St. Dorothy and bequeathed to her £300 Jamacian currency at marriage and an annuity of £30. The will also mentioned his wife and children.

Thomas Blair of Clarendon, Esquire. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1775. Slave-ownership at probate: 203 of whom 101 were listed as male and 102 as female. 0 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £12457.25 Jamaican currency of which £11171 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £0 currency debts and £0 currency plate.
