Biography

Inherited Charlton estate in St Thomas-in-the-Vale, Jamaica, from Maria Burns in 1800 (thereafter to John Inglis of Mark Lane). This Mary Inglis has not been identified but is possibly the Mary Inglis who was born 20/10/1775 and baptised 18/03/1856 in Kingston, daughter of Thomas Inglis and his wife Frances nee Dickons. Frances had bequeathed Charlton to her son John Dickons Inglis in 1791 who in turn passed the estate to his wife Maria (nee Reed, later Burns).
