Slave-owner in Demerara, dead by 1824. This must be the same man as the W.B. Panje who appeared as the executor of Ichabod Brush (q.v).
Report of the Proceedings Against the Late Rev. J. Smith, of Demerara (1824) p. 131 shows W.B. Payne as 'late.' He was among a dozen or so slave-owners whose signed papers allowing baptism of enslaved people were produced in court.
