Biography

London merchant, mortgagee-in-possession of the Smithfield Wharf property (and the enslaved people attached to it) of William Beckford of Somerley (q.v.) and then a trustee of William Beckford of Somerley's property. Jesse Curling had a single recorded slaving voyage starting from London and ending at Jamaica in 1791 with Robert Curling, John Curling, John Deffell and Rose Fuller, in a ship named the Earl of Effingham.

  1. The will of Jesse Curling of St Mary Rotherhithe merchant proved 26/03/1817 is silent on slave-property. dealing mainly with residential property in Paradise Row in Rotherhithe and with provision for his daughter Elizabeth and son Jesse Curling of Bermondsey (q.v.).
