Resident slave-owner in Jamaica. A possibly apocryphal story raises the possibility that John Myrie (d. 1786) was the illegitimate son of King John V of Portugal (1689-1750) by a woman of the court named Elizabeth or Isabel, who was 'married off' to Dennis Myrie, and the couple then moved to Jamaica, where Dennis died in 1746.
