Charles Warner

???? - 1797

Biography

Charles Warner was the original owner of the Mount Pleasant estate in Bequia, started circa 1770. According to Charles Shephard, 'In the year 1797, Mr Charles Warner, a proprietor in the island [of Bequia] was inhumanly murdered by two of his own slaves. They were convicted and executed for the crime.'

His three daughters - Susannah (Audain), Elizabeth ( Herries) and Rebecca (Arindell- wife of Thomas Arrindell of Statia) - were all beneficiaries of his will, as was his son Charles John Warner, whose sons Charles John and Thomas Hodge inherited Charles John Warner's half share in the Spring estate in Bequia, and the Friendship Estate.
