Biography
Anglican clergyman in England, sharing in the compensation for the enslaved people on the Chiswick estate in Jamaica by virtue of his marriage to Harriett Burton, one of the co-heirs of Thomas Burton I (q.v.).

Ord. deacon (Norwich) May 31, 1795; priest, Dec. 31, 1797. R. of Caistor St Edmund and Markshall, Norfolk, 1798-1803. Married Harriet, dau. of Thomas Burton, Esq., of Norwich. Of very eccentric character. Retired from clerical duties, and lived for many years at Beccles. Died Dec. 18, 1859. Brother of the next and of George (1804). (Venn, II. 120.)
